Yiqin (一勤 • ee-CHEEN) is a Taiwanese-American singer-songwriter, producer, rapper, and pianist. Drawing inspiration from K-pop sensations like BTS and SEVENTEEN alongside Broadway classics like Hamilton and Dear Evan Hansen, Yiqin’s music embodies a captivating fusion of K-pop production and pop/theatre-style song writing. Other influences include the Beatles, Billy Joel, Bruno Mars, Disney movies, and pop hits of the 2012-2015 era, which resonated deeply with him during his formative years. A devoted artist and producer on the rise, Yiqin has collaborated with and produced for emerging hip-hop talents like Elijah Malik and Donja. Audiences can find his music on all streaming platforms.
Yiqin penned his first song at the age of 14, a heartfelt tribute to his older brother who was leaving for college. Encouraged by this gratifying experience, Yiqin continued to craft songs inspired by real-life stories. In 2023, he unveiled his first album, ‘Petals, Ch. I: Snow Lily,’ a vulnerable and introspective work that delves into the depths of obsessive dieting and exercising and finding a sense of purpose. His most popular tracks include “full moon,” a heart-wrenching 80s-inspired R&B ballad that expresses a longing for the presence of a loved one; “daybreak,” a fervent anthem articulating a desire to break free from the shackles of adulthood; and “Cavatelli, half-cooked,” an acoustic-guitar-driven pop/rock gem dedicated to his girlfriend, brimming with lovestruck confessions and affectionate inside jokes.
Yiqin grew up in Portland, Oregon but is currently based in Boston, MA. His hobbies include dancing, photography, videography, and baking. (Also eating…)
